Bugatti has unveiled the Programme Solitaire, an ultra-exclusive offering designed to craft truly bespoke, one-of-one vehicles that combine the brand’s rich coachbuilding heritage with modern personalization and craftsmanship. The Programme Solitaire builds upon Bugatti’s existing Sur Mesure personalization, granting unparalleled creative freedom to both client and marque while maintaining the marque’s uncompromising standards in performance, design, and quality.
The first creation from this program is the Bugatti Brouillard Coupé. It pays tribute to Ettore Bugatti’s cherished horse, also named Brouillard, reflecting the founder’s passion for speed, beauty, and grace. The car’s name and inspiration evoke themes central to Bugatti’s legacy, embodying the same blend of artistry and engineering that has defined the brand for over a century.
Historically, Bugatti’s approach to coachbuilding brought body design in-house – a tradition established by Jean Bugatti with icons such as the Type 57 SC Atlantic. The modern Programme Solitaire extends this custom tradition: each vehicle is designed as a singular work of art, with the Brouillard sitting atop Bugatti’s celebrated 1,600PS W16-powered platform. This foundation represents the technical zenith of Bugatti’s engineering, fusing two decades of continuous innovation.
The Brouillard’s design is characterized by its sculptural, organic forms that intentionally evoke the physique of a thoroughbred horse, with surfaces that emphasize strength and elegance rather than sharp lines. Visually, its proportions echo principles of classic art, using color and shading to create a light, dynamic silhouette. Functional aerodynamics are integrated, from discreet air intakes and pressure-optimized cooling systems to a fixed ducktail wing and sophisticated rear diffuser – all enhancing both performance and aesthetic purity.
Inside, the Brouillard pushes luxury craftsmanship to new heights. The interior features Parisian-sourced, custom-woven tartan fabrics, green-tinted carbon fiber, and finely machined aluminum. The glass roof creates an open, cathedral-esque atmosphere, and a signature center spine visually links the exterior and interior, visible through the transparent panel. Bespoke details abound: hand-embroidered horse motifs adorn the seats and door panels, upholstery is precisely tailored to the owner’s specification, and the gear shifter is a unique work of art with a miniature sculpture of Brouillard embedded in glass.
The Brouillard will debut at Monterey Car Week as the first of a maximum of two annual Solitaire commissions, each representing the ultimate in bespoke automotive artistry, powered by proven Bugatti drivetrains but uniquely tailored in body and interior detail.
